Shaft parts are one of the common classic parts in machines. It consists of cylindrical surface, step surface and end surface, undercut, chamfer, keyway, center hole and arc groove. Each part has different uses. Let's briefly introduce it to you by sunbright.

①Cylinder surface: used to support the transmission workpiece (gear, pulley) and transmit torque.

②Step surface and end surface: used to determine the axial position of the workpiece mounted on the shaft.

③ Retraction groove: It is convenient to retract the tool when grinding the outer circle or threading, and can make the axial position of the workpiece accurate when assembling.

④Chamfering: It can prevent the sharp edge of the workpiece from scratching the operator, and also facilitate the loading of gears, bushings and other parts on the shaft.

⑤Keyway: Install the key to realize the transmission of power and motion.

⑥Center hole: the positioning reference for turning.

⑦ Circular arc groove: It can improve the strength of the shaft, so that the shaft will not be broken due to stress concentration when it is subjected to alternating stress, and it is not easy to crack the shaft during the quenching process.
